The streets of Oporto

Bakon’s Portugal mini-tour under way. Spike and Gino say hi. The streets of Porto are lined with huge 4′ posters of the boyz and Athena. The scandals have begun!! The December 17th show at the Hard Club in Porto has been rescheduled for Thursday, December 16th. On Sat., Dec. 18th, the boyz will move their fiasco to Azanha in Vila do Conde. Both shows are with the super Portuguese hard-rockers Basement.

Portugal plans

Bakon’s Portugal mini-tour is about to get under way. December 17th at the Hard Club in Porto is still a go, but the December 18th show has been rescheduled to the Vila do Conde club outside of Porto. Basement is going to be rockin’ out with the boyz…look for Alvaro from Basement to make a special appearance with 3LBSOB at the Hard Club show. Hopefully Spike will be able to upload some photos ‘n’ stuff when they get there, or right after they get back.

Bakon coming to Portugal

Bakon’s going to Portugal to play two shows: December 17th at the Hard Club in Porto, and December 18th at the Ritz Club in Lisbon. The guys are super excited. Now they just need to figure out how to pack a mannequin in a suitcase… 🙂 The boys will be playing both shows with bad-ass Portuguese heavy rockers Basement, who are some of the most awesome people on the planet. If you want to hear what’s going to be sizzlin’, check the new MP3 section and download some complete tracks!

Lots o’ updates

Whoo doggy…it’s been a while since I updated the site. Lots of news…

First, Bakon wants to welcome a very welcome new addition, drummer Brian Creamer. Brian whacks those drums old-school style like no other! Both Gino and Spike are really happy to have Bry-Guy aboard. The band has been rehearsing for the past few weeks or so, and it’s sounding damn good. Bakon is tentatively going into the studio to cut another demo at the beginning of October. Although Gino and Spike have parted musical ways somewhat with Arizona, they still keep in touch with him very often and remain on very friendly terms. Arizona’s bizzy workin’ fer the L.A. Philharmonic man…(hope he’s not bringin him down!)

Second, today Bakon had their first show in a really long time (since the spring). LMU’s Regent’s Terrace erupted in a sonic melee, complete with stuffed-animal-stabbing, half-naked-female-mannequin whipping, and other “inappropriate for a Jesuit university” acts. Evidently, LMU’s higher-ups, including those at the local radio station, weren’t amused or pleased by Bakon’s “bleeding edge” (no pun intended) show or “sexist” behavior (did they mean ‘sexy‘?). But then again, Bakon expects whiners and dubious naysayers along the rocky road to success; from the cheering of the students that had gathered there, the unfortunate political fallout was certainly negligible. The band debuted some new tracks (“Messed Up” and “New Controller”) including a new version of “Taste My Pain” to a very warm and enthusiastic response from their home crowd.

Finally, if you are into the aforementioned “sissy-rock”, you may enjoy Gino and Spike’s new classic-schlock band called “Eldorado“. Actually, Bakon thinks the music is great, i.e., they are under the impression that “chix will dig it”. 1st show scheduled for Rusty’s Surf Ranch on the Santa Monica Pier in Santa Monica, CA on October 1st, 10pm. All ages. The boys will be sharing the bill with their good jam-band-rocker-friends “The Blue Room”.
